Megara Hercules

Megara, better known as Meg, is the tritagonist from Disney's 1997 animated feature film Hercules.

Meg is a pawn of Hades, God of the Underworld. Meg is forced by Hades to help him destroy Hercules. At first, Meg does this, but only half-heartedly, for she is not a fan of bullies. However, when Meg realizes she is falling in love with Hercules much to her own chagrin, she has a change of heart.

Both Meg's speaking and singing voices were provided by American actress and singer, Susan Egan.

Physical Appearance[]

Meg is a beautiful young woman of Greek heritage. She has long, dark auburn hair tied up in a thick ponytail, sleek and angular purple eyes, thin, rose red lips, and a fair complexion. Her eyelids appear to be of a naturally lavender shade.

Personality[]

Meg is a feisty, independent, free-spirited, and smart-mouthed young woman. Meg enjoys cutting wry and sarcastic remarks about anything that amuses her, but she is in no way snobby, and hides a softer, more tender-hearted personality beneath her seemingly fearless exterior. Due to a rough history with romantic relationships, Meg tries to distance herself from love. But when Hercules comes along, she finds that she has fallen in love once again, much to her chagrin.

Meg is well-aware of her appearance and the affect it has on men, and can very well use it to her own advantage, though she prefers not to. Hades, her employer, however, forces her to use it against her will in order to find out Hercules' weaknesses. But when Meg realizes she has feelings for Hercules, she refuses, further asserting her independence and shocking Hades.

Meg is also very brave, and she willingly sacrifices herself in order to save Hercules from a falling pillar that consequently kills her. She, however, is brought back to life after Hercules rescues her soul.
